Dear Mothers of the Movement
choreographed by Chelsea Green
Chelsea Greene is a Junior at American University studying Elementary Education and Dance. Chelsea made her debut as a choreographer at 16 years old with a piece entitled, 1960 Now? which juxtaposed the social issues of the 1960’s with the present day. She created the piece Dear Mothers of the Movement in 2017, as a way to thank the mothers of the Black Lives Matter movement for making such a difference in her life. This piece was performed for ChoreoLab 2017, an annual workshop featuring student choreographed dance works at AU. Chelsea hopes to continue to create dance works that feature social justice issues and to highlight issues that people of color experience on a daily basis.
